Last Wednesday saw host to Managing Director of LoveLocalJobs, Nicky Binning and Managing Director of Cobb Digital, James Dempster examine how social media has changed recruitment and candidate behaviour. We had a really great turn out and we’d like to thank everyone who attended for making the seminar such a success.

“Thank you for a great presentation this morning. It was very informative and I feel we can make some constructive changes.”

If you couldn’t make it, here are some of the key takeaways from the seminar to ensure you’re using social media to provide new opportunities and insights to stay ahead of your competition.

Recruitment now has to be multi-channel and engaging to stand out to attract the huge 90% of candidates that are passive and letting the jobs come to them.

Think about your long term strategy and build engagement via social media channels using status updates, photos and questions. Both B2B and B2C businesses will flourish on social channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Google plus.

Determine your goals to ensure you can track and measure your ROI then monitor results to see what works for your company and what doesn’t. Research what your competitors are doing within the industry and if it works for them.

Twitter’s use of hashtags lends itself to highly targeted posts and they help to build communities. The immediacy of Twitter allows users to engage with a brand directly, creating a high level of engagement with your target audience.

Linkedin is the only social network which targets the business community specifically, this is the ideal site to recruit for the B2B industry. You can target and engage with users via company and showcase pages.
