Why working for us beats working for large employers - Grovelands

Some may think that working for a small company means a lack of progression, a limited benefits package and rubbish employee policies.

Grovelands is the exact opposite. We have probably the best benefits package in our local industry which includes healthcare, time off to prepare for your wedding/civil partnership, time off to move house, enhanced maternity pay, heavily subsidised gym membership, pension, life cover, sabbatical leave and paid time off to do something charitable as well as free fruit and more!

In terms of career development, having recently been shortlisted for Personnel Today Award for Excellence in Learning & Development (under 1000 employees), we are a brilliant example of how extensively you can learn and develop in your role within a small business. We offer a blended learning approach covering all L&D needs and our personal development plans are used to identify career aspirations and with various career paths from trainee, to consultant and from there to either managing consultant, senior consultant or relationship management depending on your skills and aspirations, you and your manager can identify learning solutions to help support the achievement of your career aims.

We also run a leadership development programme, designed and delivered by a prestigious external provider who normally deliver such programmes to the likes of Tesco and Redbull but who was keen to work with a smaller organisation as it helps them to test their material plus they can see more immediate results.

Additionally, being a small business means we can be incredibly flexible with our policies - we do have strong policies to help guide us but without having to go through red tape and bureaucracy, we can flex them to suit the needs of our employees. We’re very human in our approach and understand that our employees will go through many life events whilst working for us and they will need to balance working for us with their life outside work. We do what we can to support this.

And most importantly, we have a lot of fun with several social events, team incentives, quizzes and more!
