As a key person for a group of children, observing and monitoring their progress and then planning for their next steps in consultation with their parents/carers will be a key element of this role. Ensuring development folders remain up to date and reflect the individuality of each child is paramount.
An awareness of health and safety implications is very important. Ensuring the children are safe at all times and meeting their welfare needs is a key part of this role. Excellent hygiene standards are also very important to minimise the risk of infection and to ensure all practitioners are effective role models for the children.
An understanding of safeguarding is essential. As an Ofsted registered setting we have a duty to ensure all children in our care are safe from harm.
The ability to work as part of a team, to share ideas and then carry them through for the benefit of the children is an important part of this role.
