Hourly rate:    £9:00   p/h  Week days
£10:00 p/h Week-ends
£13:00 p/h Bank holidays ( treated as ordinary working days for rotas)
Hours/ shifts:    Hours to be agreed. 
Anticipated about 15 hours per week. Some mornings definitely, Possibly some evening work. Some weekend work.. 
Flexible for the right candidate ( so more hours could be available, or fewer if required)
Contract type:    Permanent Part time
 

Job description

Vacancies for enthusiastic, experienced or inexperienced Carers/ P.A.'s to help remain independent in own home.
Are you a good listener, good at picking up new skills, reliable, trustworthy and adaptable?

The job will be challenging and frustrating, interesting and varied, but hopefully, rewarding and satisfying.

Nature of the work

Caring, including personal care, support and assistance.

Typical tasks

Personal care tasks:

  • washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
  • Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required
  • Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
  • To be on call when employer takes bath
  • Assistance with applying cream
  • General hair/skin care
  • Catheter care
  • Using the toilet 
  • Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
  • Getting into bed
  • Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist
  • Help with dispensing tablets  
  • Helping with other aspects of personal care as required. 
  • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') 
  • Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
  • Physiotherapy exercises
  • Preparing food/meals

Domestic tasks:

  • Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
  • Helping with laundry, washing and drying 
  • Loading and unloading the washing machine, Loading and unloading washing line
  • Changing bed linen,  
  • Bed making,  
  • General cleaning
  • Taking out rubbish,  
  • General housework, including cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping. 
  • Tidying
  • Minor household maintenance eg. changing light bulbs, taking down curtains for washing
  • Helping to keep my equipment clean and in good condition
  • Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
  • Shopping
  • Help in the garden
  • Correspondence  form-filling, assisting with household paperwork
  • Making phone calls on my behalf when I am too unwell to do this
  • Making tea for the employer's guests
