Position: Engineering Training & Competency Manager Location: South London Salary: £60,000 circa package Our Rail client is looking to recruit and experienced Engineering Training & Competence Manager. The client is a well-known rail brand and operator of trains, providing 35% of all passenger journeys in the UK. Purpose of the role is the Management and development of all aspects of the Engineering Training and competence assessment service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Delivery of fleet safety and operational performance that meets business targets - Development and delivery of robust training and competency management programmes for all activities within the Engineering directorate, which deliver value for money, performance and service quality targets - Delivery of qualified competent apprentices into the engineering team - Development of a library of flexible modular multimedia training packages which promote self-development - Lead and direct the day to day activities and performance of the whole Engineering Training and Competency organization. - Working with managers throughout the engineering directorate to develop short, medium and long term training plans which deliver the required business objectives. - Recruitment, selection and development and welfare of the Engineering Apprentices ensuring they obtain the required qualifications and reach the required competency standard. - Development of documented standards defining competence requirements, related training materials and competence assessment methodology in accordance with legislation and relevant national standards. - Working with engineering managers to develop training and assessment packages which meet the needs of the engineering directorate. - Creating an open and honest culture and environment within the team to increase employee engagement levels and to produce high performing teamsExperience: The successful candidate will have a clear record in performing the above roles and responsibilities within a rolling stock environment. You will have good leadership and communication skills as well as being able to think from both an operational and strategic standpoint. Candidates will be qualified Trainers and ideally have an A1 and V1 assessors course.
