SHE AdvisorLocation: CrawleyKier Building UK is looking to recruit a SHE Advisor, who will report to the SHE Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safety, health and environmental advice on construction projects in the south. They will carry out inspections, investigate accidents and provide reports and recommendations. You will be working on new build construction projects worth up to £50 million in the retail, office, health, commercial and education sectors.Key Responsibilities: Drive to deliver continual SHE improvements across the Business UnitEnsure Kier's SHE procedures are implemented to allow all relevant legislation to be complied withProvide support and advice to any part of Kier business unit operations on SHE issues and to ensure that the Kier SHE policies and any local guidance are fully aligned in order that no conflict or confusion existsEnsure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and support is provided to investigations in accordance with Kier SHE policies and proceduresEnsure all SHE lessons learnt and other High Value Learning Events (HVLEs) are communicatedEnsure that all SHE reporting requirements are provided accurately and in a timely mannerEnsure environmental procedures, reporting and required environmental statements are produced and maintainedConduct site/project/contract APR visits and ensure that appropriate action plans have been put in place by the accountable operations managerConduct regular reviews on APR corrective action statusSupport Kier vision and values and follow Kier strategy and critical operating tasks (COTS)Work closely with and support the operational teams in carrying out their roles and responsibilities for SHE and implementing the Kier Safety, Health and Environmental Management System (KSHEMS)Attend pre-start meetings and advise on CDM, welfare, work at height and other areas of SHEAdvise and assist teams in drawing up risk assessments, safe systems of work and evaluating method statementsCarry out and record SHE audits and inspectionsAssist the line management in the compiling of accident reports for accidents and providing recommendations to prevent a reoccurrenceParticipate in the work of SHE committees and joint consultations affecting the workforceUpdate senior managers and directors on SHE issues regularly, and immediately following any serious incidents or enforcing authority involvementAssist management in identifying local SHE training and if necessary liaising with the Learning and Development team to progress trainingAssist in developing toolbox talks and briefings on key issuesPromote SHE training programmes and assist in any improvementsDeliver SHE training courses and briefings where the need arisesTasks will be carried out in a manner wholly consistent with Kier's SHE policies without compromise Key Skills and Qualifications: NEBOSH Construction CertificateWorking knowledge of ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 StandardsAbility to work on own initiativeExperience in similar or supporting postExperience working understanding of SHE legislationGood oral and written communicatorAbility to work as part of a team and to positively influence othersAbility to work on own initiative, deliver key objectives while working under pressure and coping with stressful situations About Kier: Kier Group plc. is a leading construction, property, residential and services group which invests in, builds, maintains and renews the places where we work, live and play.
