Job Details

Working alongside our trained and competent production staff you will be able to learn the skills required to successfully work within our production team and become a valued member of the business.

The role for the first 12 months will be to spend time within each production departments learning the basic skills required to undertake those tasks and to deliver them successfully. The production departments available are:

- Digital Print & Vinyl

- Metal Works & Preparation

- Spraying & Firing

- Screen Preparation, Printing & Firing

- Assembly & Quality Checking

After completing the first 12 months you will be asked to choose two areas of production to specialise in, and these areas will be where you will have further dedicated training and work experience in, leading to you becoming a full member of that production department at the end of the apprenticeship.

Training to be Provided:

The level 2 NVQ Diploma, which is a combined knowledge and competence based qualification, is delivered via flexible work based assessment and regular onsite observations by an experienced assessor. Candidates will be expected to cover 4 mandatory units and a range og optional units for which they need to provide work-based evidence.

The mandatory units are;

Maintain the work environment to meet health, safety and environmental requirements

Develop and maintain effective working relationships

Provide information about sign products

Maintain the quality of sign production

Functional Skills will be delivered via weekly classes at college, starting in September (subject to assessment). Personal Learning and Thinking Skills and ERR will be delivered in company by the assessor.

Qualifications Required:

A minimum of 2 GCSE’s at grade D or 2 or above (or the equivalent) for English and Maths. If you do not have these grades, you still may be considered, however college attendance will be required to pass these subjects. As part of the pre-employment check process, proof of qualifications will be required.

Future Prospects:

There may be an opportunity to become a permanent member of staff on completion of the apprenticeship and continue to work within the company.

Other Important Information:

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour effective from 1st April 2018. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

Reality Check:

The position involves primarily working in a Factory environment. There may be a need to work additional hours as and when required. The salary for this post will be reviewed after 1 year. Pension is available with the option to opt-out.
