Job Details

Join our busy, friendly team at our Grand Parade site and help us ensure the buildings and grounds of the university are maintained to a high standard to ensure the safety of all users, including staff and students.  This is a busy and challenging role, so your previous experience of working in an environment where high standards of cleanliness, safety, security and organisation were required will be essential.

You will be responsible for ensuring site security and controlling access and will play a key role in ensuring that fire, safety and health regulations and general emergency procedures are observed. Providing a focal point for general enquiries and helping to foster and maintain good customer services also forms part of the role so you will need effective communication skills and the ability to listen well and understand the needs of others.

A working knowledge of safe working practices, health and safety legislation and security and access control systems is essential, as is the ability to work as part of a team and IT skills including use of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

The hours of work are 5 days out of 7.  The primary shift pattern is 5.30 am to 1.30 pm or 1.30 pm to 9.30 pm although some flexibility may be required according to business needs.  In addition to the salary, you will be paid a 10% shift allowance.

In return, the university offers a range of benefits, for example a generous annual leave package which includes time off over the Christmas period, and travel loan and childcare voucher schemes.
