Graduate Unit Manager (Operations)
Recycling and Integrated Assets
Location: Ford, West Sussex
Salary: £25,000
At Viridor, we’re one of the UK’s leading recycling, renewable energy and waste management companies and part of the FTSE 250 Pennon Group. We put waste into action, transforming it into high quality recyclables, raw materials and energy and are at the forefront of the UK’s green economy.
The wide range of recycling treatment technologies we use, including advanced and standard materials recycling facilities, mechanical biological treatment plants, composting and household waste recycling centres, means that we are able to put more of society's waste into action.
Materials Recycling Facilities (MRF) process large volumes of municipal, commercial and industrial dry mixed materials to produce a range of high quality recyclable outputs. A combination of advanced mechanical sorting techniques and manual quality control is used to separate the materials so that they can be reprocessed into new products.
Our new Graduate Unit Manager will be responsible for the operation of a safe, efficient and commercially mature MRF recycling asset facility. You will support managers in the Company’s Recycling Asset’s – to ensure that they safely comply with all legislative, statutory and Company requirements and that they meet and exceed agreed Business Plans and P&L.
As our Graduate Unit Manager, and with our full support and training, you’ll learn to lead, motivate, manage and develop the Recycling Asset Management teams under your control in line with the Company’s strategic aims, health and safety regulations and the company values and behaviours.
This is an exciting and responsible opportunity for a Graduate who has a specific interest in managing operations. You’ll support the management of the day to day operation of the functions ensuring that all permits, licenses and regulations are adhered to, also ensuring risk assessments are conducted and provide written instructions of Safe Systems of Work ensuring they are complied with.
You’ll also be responsible for output specification controls, ensuring quality of processed commodities at the facility and provide financial information and reports to ensure the effective running of the MRF.
We’re looking for a Graduate Unit Manager who demonstrates strong communication and relationship building skills, takes a logical, proactive and practical approach to solutions. You’ll be adaptable, comfortable in a changing environment, able to work to deadlines and under pressure, resilient and who possesses good attention to detail.
You’ll be a minimum of degree qualified and whilst work experience or knowledge of the recycling, energy or waste management industry isn’t essential, it would be beneficial.
For your hard work and commitment, we offer a competitive salary and package including contributory health care and pension schemes.
The Graduate Unit Manager will be based in West Sussex. There will be travel required to other sites across the UK, therefore a full UK driving license is essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our fast-growing business and be a part of how we’re shaping the future.
Closing date is 5.30pm, 1st June 2019. Assessments and selection stages will take place between June and August 2019. Intake date is early October 2019.
