Pier Recruitment are turning five this July!

Founded in 2012, Pier Recruitment is a bespoke recruitment agency designed to bring service back into the industry.

As many will appreciate, recruitment is a very fast-paced and often cut-throat industry and it, therefore, becomes easy to succumb to the demons of the sector; you can easily become driven by figures, meeting targets, making sales calls and hitting KPIs. Of course, there is no doubt that this is important and comes with the territory, however, it is easy to forget other crucial components of being a recruiter. First and foremost, you are there to provide a service - by finding candidates’ jobs and helping businesses grow and retain their workforce.

Sadly, the ‘service’ aspect of the industry is often neglected, leaving clients with a bad taste in their mouth and placing candidates in jobs they may dislike. Indeed, there are numerous consultants in the industry who do provide an excellent service, but their reputations are often tarnished by the ‘stereotypical’ recruitment brush. - This is why we decided to make a stand, and opened Pier!

The core of our company ethos is to provide 100% service to everyone we work with, by offering a consultative, honest and transparent approach. We want to ensure that we aren’t labelled as ‘just another recruitment agency’ but are appreciated as a dedicated group of professionals who will deliver the service local businesses and jobseekers deserve. We endeavour to meet all candidates and clients who we work with, which solidifies our ability to successfully match candidates to their perfect role. This simple solution means that we can assess how our clients work, what their ethics are and how their team operates. Consequently, we can then place candidates in vacancies by gauging both their skill set and team fit.

Our commitment seems to have struck a chord across the board, outlined by numerous testimonials and reviews which can be found on Google, our social media sites and new website. Furthermore, recent statistics also suggest that our service driven approach seems to work as we fill approximately 80% of all vacancies given to us (both temporary and permanent) when the industry average is just 33% - (a figure we are quite proud of)!

At Pier Recruitment, we are renowned for employing the industry’s most friendly, motivated and dedicated individuals who are clearly passionate about what they do. As defenders of the 2015 Perkbox ‘Happy Teams’ competition, we believe that staff happiness is of the utmost importance when it comes to being an effective, efficient and accomplished business - every single member of the team is responsible for our continued success. In just under 5 years we have expanded from two to nearly twenty and now have two branches, having opened our Crawley branch in the summer of 2016.

We are genuinely grateful that the demand for our services has enabled us to expand so quickly, as we can now register more and more candidates, resulting in more and more local jobs being filled. Knowing that we are helping people find work whilst growing the local economy really makes the tough days so much easier – and trust me, we have our fair share of tough days!

As the local community is evidentially so important to us, we make sure we do as much as we can for charity. Last year we were named official partners of the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity and held a fun-packed Bingo night in aid of this fantastic cause, raising just under £1500 in a few hours.
For 2017, we have a very exciting charitable venture planned! The process is currently in its infancy….. But watch this space, if all goes to plan – it should be a fantastic fundraiser which hasn’t been done locally before!

With our fifth birthday looming, we could not be more excited to see what the future has to bring! Despite the struggles that recent political controversies may present us with, we are not a company to rest on our laurels and are keen to keep pushing the business forward. Our team’s experience of working through both recessions and booms means we understand the changing market so we aren’t at all daunted at all!
