Results joy for Chichester College students

Excited, happy, amazed, joyous – some of the many emotions being experienced by students arriving to celebrate their achievements at Chichester College today (Thursday 15 August). 

The college celebrates its best-ever pass rate – 99.5%

More than half of the students at the college achieved A*B grades – which means many are celebrating getting into the universities of their choice or securing their next steps in to their dream apprenticeship.

Harry Linkhorn achieved two A* grates in chemistry and maths and two A grades in physics and further maths. He’s now looking forward to going on to study chemistry at Imperial College London.

He said: “I’m really happy, I had looked at UCAS to check that I had got in before I came in to collect my results.”

Laynie Symonds is eagerly awaiting the start of her marketing apprenticeship with ITV after receiving an A grade in business and two B grades in graphic design and English language.

She said: “I’m so excited to be going to London.

“I was really nervous this morning – I thought I was going to pass out, but I’m so happy with my results. I can’t wait to start my apprenticeship – I’ll be learning on the job, which I really wanted to do. I’m on my way!”

It was an emotional morning for Madeleine Crosby Wilsher, who was delighted to receive dream results which means she is rethinking her initial plans.

Her A* in law and two A grades in photography and sociology mean she is now looking to go through the Cambridge Adjustment process with aim of studying human, social and political science at the prestigious university.

She said: “I had no idea I would do so well – I’m really happy and hopefully I’ll be able to get a place at Cambridge through Adjustment.

“I’ve got the grades I wanted and I want to see my lecturers to say thank you. The support has been great.” 

Families were joining the celebrations at Chichester College too. Emma Weeden’s mum and sisters were supporting her as she collected her results – two A* grades in English language and English literature and an A grade in business.

Emma’s mum Jane said: “The whole family has been waiting for today. Emma’s worked so hard of these results and we’re very proud of her.”
