1:1 Teaching AssistantPart Time Term Time Only (Monday - Thursday)East Grinstead

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school community in East Grinstead. This role is key in helping pupils achieve their full potential by supporting teaching and learning in the classroom.

You will work closely with class teachers to support pupils individually and in groups, promoting independence, confidence, and inclusion while ensuring every child can access the curriculum and enjoy a positive learning experience.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant you will be supporting two children with EHCP's. One of those is in Year 2 and one in Year 5.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and supporting pupils' progress
  • Help implement strategies to support all learners, including those with SEND
  • Encourage pupil participation, inclusion, and positive behaviour
  • Support classroom management and maintain a safe learning environment
  • Observe pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Supervise classes when required

Qualifications & Experience

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Relevant qualification (Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning or Childcare) or willingness to work towards one
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational and ICT skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices
  • Ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
