We are an independent and modern veterinary practice based in Brighton looking for a Nursing Assistant to work within an excellent team. We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

You will play a key and essential role working alongside veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to support both the day and night team to ensure high level care for our patients.

As part of your role you will be involved in the following:

Supporting our Vets & Nurses, working as part of a supportive, established and knowledgeable team; animal handling; exercising, grooming and feeding hospitalised animals; monitoring and providing supportive care to inpatients; both general cleaning, tidying, washing and thorough cleaning; re-stocking equipment in all areas; meeting and welcoming clients; arranging/rescheduling appointments (when required); preparing theatre and relevant equipment; answering the telephone and dealing with clients appropriately; completing relevant documentation and protocols.

You should be:

  • hard working,
  • reliable with a ‘can do’ attitude;
  • passionate about working with animals; 
  • a people person with very good customer service skills and empathy with clients;
  • able to work in a team and by themselves;
  • proactive with strong organisational and prioritisation skills;
  • available to work approximately 40 hours per week in line with the Company rota on a shift rota basis which includes working some evenings and weekends (potentially working 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 weekends);

An animal related qualification or experience beneficial but not essential for the role.



You will be an integral part of a friendly, supportive & dedicated team. Although some shifts can be very busy and the hours can be long and sometimes physically and emotionally demanding, the rewards from helping the practice provide an excellent standard of client and animal care and seeing animals nursed back to health makes the job extremely worthwhile.
