Hardware Engineer required to work on avionics programmes at various stages of the development lifecycle, applying modern hardware engineering techniques on existing and new programmes. Domain knowledge and experience relevant to the defence avionics embedded products will be an advantage. Initially this role will be within a small team in supporting the evolution of stores management systems. The Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the development and verification of hardware and firmware to applicable standards. The Hardware Engineer will perform a wide range of activities, including:Analysing customer requirements. Create & Modify Analogue and Digital Hardware designs.Plan & Support Equipment qualification.Support Manufacturing Department during test and build.Documenting and Verification of systems.Controlled configuration.The successful candidate will have the below skills:Be able to demonstrate an advanced understanding of the challenges associated with hardware engineering of avionics equipment. Be able to demonstrate sufficient relevant hardware engineering and domain competence across most of the aspects captured below: MIL-STD-1760, DOORS requirements capture, PLD/FPGA Design - VHDL, Modelsim particularly Xilinx FPGAs Schematic Design PCB Design - Mentor Tools - Board Station, Xpedition Spice simulation Qualification Standards - RTCA/DO-160G, DEF-STAN 00-35, DEF-STAN 59-41 Development Standards - RTCA DO-254 Networks - Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553 Use laboratory test equipment to debug & fault find Documentation - Word, Excel and Visio Be able to demonstrate good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.Candidates must be willing to undergo a security vetting procedure.
