This December, the historical Newhaven Fort, run by award winning Wave Leisure (Wave) the not-for-profit trust, is launching its brand new Christmas Market and Santa Experience for all the family and the Team is busy making festive plans and recruiting fairies and elves.

One of the biggest recruitment drives starting next week is the ‘Search for Santa’. Wave is actively looking to recruit one, two, three – or four - jolly individuals to take on the all-important role of Santa Claus.

Now, we all know there really is only one Santa Claus, however Wave is hoping they can entice a body-double to host the Christmas Grotto and Workshop which will be open on Saturdays and Sundays - 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th December.

Lisa Hayward, Wave’s Marketing & Communications Manager for said: “Here at Newhaven Fort, we are hosting Christmas for the very first time and will be turning the Fort into a magical Christmas Wonderland, including Santa’s Workshop and a festive Marketplace.  However, to make the experience complete, we are now searching for Santa to host our guests, keep the elves in order and look after our Christmas Grotto.  We know the right Santa is out there – we just need him to get in touch and be part of this magical event.”

The Santa Experience will be an exciting addition to Sussex’s Christmas celebrations as the whole of Newhaven Fort will be turned into a winter spectacular complete with a Christmas Grotto and Santa’s Workshop.  Activities include making magical reindeer food, decorating gingerbread men, a special story time with Mrs Claus, writing a letter to Santa, meeting the man himself and receiving a special gift.

Outside on the Parade Ground, there will be a children’s festive fun fair and vintage side stall attractions and, inside the Romney Hut, visitors can visit the Christmas Market where there will be lots of stalls selling gifts, crafts and delicious food.  The 1940s Tea Room will be serving mulled wine and mince pies, alongside a tasty hog roast and roasted chestnuts.

So, if you think you can be Santa Claus, and can Ho Ho Ho and entertain children and their families for up to six hours a day, Wave is looking for you to apply to be the very first Santa Claus for the Newhaven Fort Christmas extravaganza.

Shortlisted Santa’s will be asked to attend an interview - in full costume if possible - at Newhaven Fort during w/c 7th November and participate in a press photo call which could include broadcast mediums.  At the time of applying, please confirm you are happy to take part in media activity and are happy to be photographed, filmed and interviewed if required.

The successful Santa(s) will be notified by 30th November 2016 at the latest.

For more information on Santa’s job role and to apply for this opportunity, please visit our website on www.waveleisure.co.uk for more details.  Deadline for submissions is Friday 28th October. Please note: Timings for Santa’s presence at the Fort will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day with scheduled breaks and visits to the Workshop and will be paid £75.00/day.
