Bar Server & Porter - The View Hotel
The View Hotel offers 126 modern en-suite rooms, most of which have balconies and sea views. Situated on the main promenade, the beach is just a stone's throw away. Bedrooms are air-conditioned and many have stunning views across the English Channel. The Vista Bar and Lounge is a relaxed environment serving popular drinks and light bar meals from 10.00am onwards. Accommodating up to 150 people, Vision Meetings and Events at The View Hotel has a multi-media conference hall with cinema-size screen. There are also 6 fully equipped seminar rooms. Vows at The View Hotel are accommodated in our newly opened Horizon Suite offering unrivalled views Eastwards towards the Pier. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Bar Server and Porter (24-32 hrs per week) to join our Team at The View Hotel. The role of Bar Server and Porter is to ensure the smooth running of the Vista Bar & Lounge and function bar facilities on a day to day basis providing a positive guest experience and maximising bar revenues. To ensure the set-up, turnaround and dismantling of the conference rooms, serving tea and coffee and lunch at intervals. Bar Accountabilities: Working behind the bar and providing table service, taking orders for drinks and food within the bar & lounge and function areas.Provide prompt service, build rapport with guests and enhance their experienceDisplay the company customer service behaviours at all time.Restock fridges and shelves behind the bar when required, especially towards the end of your shift. Ensure fridges are correctly stocked in line with standard operating procedures.Notify the Bar Supervisor of any low stock within the cellar.Use opening and closing checklists when on shift.Be focused on customer service and up selling at all times to ensure the mystery guest audit items are covered at all times. Strive to achieve any extra initiatives or promotions that are running within your department.Ensure that you adhere to the cleaning schedule within the bar and lounge. Maintain the cleanliness of the bar and lounge areas ensuring the bar and tables are clean and set to the hotels standard operating procedures.Ensure that you are working within and understand the Government Weights and Measures act and Liquor Licensing legislation. eg. correct glasses and dispense measures being used at all times, checking of ID, resident procedures etc.Maintain the bar, cellar and storage areas (eg. bottle bins) in a good state of repair and in line with current Health & Safety and Food Hygiene Legislation requirements.Assist in liquor stock counts as required.Work to the company cash handling procedures at all times (this covers the processing of all sales - cash, cheque, credit card and in house accounts. Porter Accountabilities: Communicate with the Conference and Events Supervisor and attend daily meeting to receive function sheets.Plan your day to enable set up and conference room turnaround in a timely and efficient manner. Ensure room layouts are set according to the function sheet requirements and all equipment is in place and working for guest arrival.Be knowledgeable on the set up and use of all audio - visual equipment.Ensure that teas and coffees are prepared and served on time to conference delegates. Presentation must be of a high quality and all guest requirements met.Ensure that when dismantling conference rooms and moving furniture that all health and safety standards are met. Furniture should be stored in the allocated areas and stacked safely. Please note, this position will be offered with a 32 Hours per week Annualised Hours Contract. Annualised Hours is an alternative way of expressing a working contract in hours per year, rather than the conventional hours per week. It enables staff to receive a standard monthly salary based on average hours, no matter how many hours they work in any month. Team members can be rostered for additional hours during busy times and fewer hours during quieter periods.
