As Restaurant Manager, you will be directly responsible for and leading a staff team in the strategic and day-to-day running of the Garden Centre Restaurant. You will conduct administrative and training functions during the quieter periods and be expected to manage the restaurant effectively.Key Responsibilities:·Manage staffing levels to ensure adequate cover at all times by co-ordinating an effective staff rota, identifying shortfalls and recruiting as appropriate.·Conduct regular appraisals with all staff, encouraging performance feedback.·Be at the forefront for every purchasing decision, ensuring they are in accordance with Hillier listing and policies, including liaising with the Development Chef to maintain product ranges.·Oversee stock management including monitoring wastage and discounting to achieve maximum margin potential.·Manage the merchandising, pricing and display of all goods, maintaining the highest of standards.·Make sure all staff within the Restaurant have completed the departmental Health and Safety induction prior to joining Hillier. In addition, ensuring that risk assessments are conducted and all staff have access to Health and Safety documentation.·Assist in the preparation and management of progressive yearly budgets.·Work closely with HR and the Garden Centre Manager to manage staff performance.·Fulfil all till operations, cash handling and banking procedures according to the Cash Security Policy. Skills & Experience:·Strong communication and interpersonal skills to deal with employees at all levels, as well as external contacts.·An active listener.·A demonstrated history of working in hospitality for a minimum of three years at management level.·Eager to support and contribute to the wider team.·Great communication skills.·Work with energy, pace and passion.·Good organisation and prioritisation skills.·Certified Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety (desirable).What we offer:
