We are looking for enthusiastic registered nurses who are interested in developing new skills working with young people with complex needs. We provide specialist 24 hour nursing care to children from 3 years old to young adults aged up to 25 years, both in school and the residential provision.
This role is very unique and requires a nurse eager to help improve the lives of children and young people with complex needs including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, physical disability and children with a tracheostomy who require ventilation.
A lack of relevant experience should not deter anyone from applying; we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new skills. You will be supported to become competent in catheterisation, tracheostomies and ventilation, emergency seizure management and gain knowledge and experience with complex and long term neurological conditions.
The nursing team are employed by Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, but work on site in partnership with Chailey Heritage Foundation. We work with the in house clinical multidisciplinary team including SALT, Physio, OT and Doctors to provide holistic person centred care.

The site consists of Chailey Heritage School, 6 residential bungalows and facilities such as a farm, swimming pool, horse stables and the developing DREAM centre.
You will need to:
- Role model best practice to inspire carers to achieve their potential
- Be an excellent communicator and utilise a range of communication methods
- Act as an advocate safeguarding our young people.
- Have a hands on approach
- Be able to develop personalised care plans
- Be able to respond to changing clinical needs, maintain & promote general well being
- Work throughout the 24 hour period including nights, weekends and bank holidays
- Have empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by our young people
- Enjoy working as part of a team
The rural location of the school means it would be helpful to have access to a car or other form of transport.
