The job will involve mainly working in our decontamination room, processing dental instruments. Also completing daily checks and working alongside the nursing team. Daily activities will include: · Providing chairside support to Dental Professionals for at least 2 days per week · Decontamination of re-usable medical devices · Daily monitoring checks on all equipment · Knowledge of instrument trays · Reception duties; checking patients in and out, booking appointments, taking payments In addition, college attendance to dental classes is required, term-time only, at the Crawley Campus, normally on Thursdays, between 6 PM and 9 PM, and, if applicable, attendance to functional skills classes in English and Maths and other workshops.

Training to be Provided:

After the completion of on programme training and in consultation with all relevant parties, when the apprentice is considered to have demonstrated the KSBs required of a competent Dental Nurse their EPA will be booked. This will usually happen at least 15 months into the Apprenticeship

Your Apprentice cannot proceed through the gateway until the following elements have been achieved and can be evidenced:

· Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Dental Nursing

· Full GDC approval License to Practice in Dental Nursing

· Level 2 in Maths and English

Expected Duration:

12 months

Skills Required:

Reasonable command of English, computer literate

Qualifications Required:

GCSEs grade E or 2 or above in English and Maths

Personal Qualities:

Friendly, polite, ability to work in a team, reliable

Future Prospects:

Possibility of a full time Dental/Decontamination Nurse position once a position becomes vacant, and fully qualified

The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
