Covering Brighton, Worthing and Shoreham Campuses
Potential for a relocation allowance
Bold and transformative leader required. Shape our future – realise our full potential.
Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (MET) was created from the merger of City College Brighton and Northbrook College Sussex. We offer a comprehensive range of qualifications for 16-19 year olds, university degrees, full and part time courses for adults, apprenticeships and professional qualifications. The MET operates across five campuses in Brighton, Shoreham and Worthing. We teach around 3,500 16-18 year-olds, 1,000 undergraduates, 7,500 adult learners and 800 apprentices.
More than 1,000 expert staff work with our students to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to prepare them for the world of work - to encourage support and inspire them. The MET helps to build the self-belief, confidence and bravery our students need to meet and exceed their aspirations.
We are now looking to appoint a new Principal and need a bold and transformative leader to help shape our future and realise our full potential. As our new Principal you will lead the student experience across the College, developing teaching and learning, creating and sustaining a culture of progressive curriculum excellence, innovation and delivery. You will ensure our curriculum meets the needs of all students, employers and community partners, and that student outcomes – in the widest sense - are of the highest possible standard; developing systems and processes to drive continuous improvement. Reporting into the Chief Executive Officer you will work closely with other members of the Executive team, playing a strategic role ensuring teaching and learning is always at the heart of the organisation.
This is an opportunity to create an outstanding teaching and learning environment and help the college realise new opportunities for curriculum development. You will have a proven track record in leading a progressive approach to teaching and learning improvements and bring particular experience in developing apprenticeships and curriculum geared towards international students. You will also bring experience of developing effective and engaging alternative, blended and digital learning strategies and demonstrate an ability to be inventive, enterprising and at times radical. Collaborative and team oriented in approach, you will be comfortable working effectively as part of a strategic team and will have led high performing, innovative and student focused teams.
Leading this next phase of our development will require ambition, energy, and focus – nothing else will do. If you are confident you can help us realise our full potential and want to play a vital part in the next stage of our journey we’d love to hear from you.
To apply, please do not submit an application form, please send a CV and covering letter to jobs@gbmc.ac.uk. For further details of this role, please click on the Job Description above.
Interviews will be held on 25 March 2019
