Macfarlane Group PLC is the UK's largest packaging distributor and we are seeking to urgently hire an experienced LGV (Class 2) Driver to join our established logistics team based in Horsham, West Sussex. The LGV Class 2 Driver role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced LGV Class 2 Driver to join our business. We welcome applications from motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are genuinely customer focussed, genuine team-players with good interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a flexible approach and strong work ethic. Our drivers work 45 hours a week across Monday to Friday only (no weekends). You will be working as an integral part of our regional logistics team, undertaking general logistics duties (including some assistance within the warehouse itself) and regular customer deliveries across the wider local area.

LGV Class 2 Key Duties

Reporting to the logistics manager, key duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Multiple customer deliveries in the local region (average of 1-15 drops daily) Drive Company vehicles and operate Company equipment in a safe and professional manner in accordance with Company policies, procedures and legislation
  • You will required to load your vehicle daily on return and secure load for safety
  • Provide a professional driving service, to meet and exceed expectations of our customers ensuring customer service Experience level agreements are maintained.
  • Comply with the vehicle security and standing procedure at all times.
  • Carry out vehicle and auxiliary equipment checks prior to the operation of any vehicle, reporting any defects immediately
  • Report any delivery issues or exceptions in a timely manner
  • On return to site, you will report to the Logistics Manager or Supervisor for full debrief
  • This role ability to self-manage and use initiative for solving problems.
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of themselves and others, adhering to safe working practices and the Health & Safety at Work Act, including accident, incident and damage reporting.

Do you have the correct profile?

Firstly, you must be an experienced Class 2 Driver with the appropriate driving licence (no more than 6 points), hold a digi-card and be able to evidence at least one year's experience of commercial LGV driving. Ideally, you will also have a forklift reach & counterbalance licence (training can be provided if not).

It is imperative that you have a strong work-ethic with a flexible ‘can do' attitude.

Also crucial is a strong customer-focus with the ability to interact positively with our customers on a daily basis when making your drops (acting as an ambassador for Macfarlane). As a team player you will also be happy to assist with general warehouse duties on occasions alongside your core driver responsibilities.
