Grade - NHS AfC: Band 5

Advert for SCPHN (Health Visitor) Training - University of Surrey - September 2019 Course

A fully funded training opportunity to qualify as a registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) is now open to all qualified Nurses and Midwives. Starting in September 2019, you will be given a fixed term contract with Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) to undertake a one year full-time course to complete the BSc/PGDip/MSc Specialist Community Public Health Nurse course (Health Visiting) at the University of Surrey.

Sponsorship will be paid at band 5 salary to a maximum point 20; no incremental uplift is paid for duration of this training contract.

Successful completion of the course will lead to registration on Part 3 of the NMC register, an NMC recordable qualification, and eligibility to apply for a post as a health visitor.

For details of the course at Surrey University and how to apply, please visit the University of Surrey website.

If you are selected for interview you will be contacted within 3 weeks of the closing date. When applying for this post it is essential that you read the Job Description and Person Specification and use the “supporting information” space to demonstrate how your skills, knowledge and experience meet the requirements of the person specification, as your application will be judged against this. Please note that while the advert specifies Surrey University as the base, clinical placements can be anywhere in the Trust.

Correspondence relating to this vacancy will usually be conducted electronically. Please ensure that you check your emails on a regular basis. References will also be requested electronically; please ensure you provide correct contact details for referees.

Joint interviews with SCFT and University staff will be held in April 2019; dates are still to be confirmed.

Please indicate under "supporting information" if you have a disability and wish to be considered for short listing in line with our 2 ticks commitments and/or if you have any particular requirements to enable you to participate in the selection process. Please insert "I wish to apply under the 2 ticks scheme".

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Border Agency requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit UK Border Agency website.
