Job Details

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including in-patient care, day hospice and community care.

You will be the first point of contact for all visitors and callers to the hospice and you will therefore need to be professional, empathic and sensitive in your approach. You will be responsible for providing a first class support service to meet the operational requirements of the hospice and manage a team of trained volunteers.

A highly experienced receptionist, preferably with experience of having worked in a similar sensitive and confidential environment, you’ll be able to demonstrate a high level of care and compassion and be able to remain calm and unflappable under pressure. Excellent communication and listening skills are vital to this role as you will be dealing sensitively with sometimes distressed visitors and callers. The role also requires that you provide administrative support to the wider hospice and therefore the ability to demonstrate high levels of accuracy and a can-do approach is essential. You must have the flexibility to work as part of a team providing cover for sickness and holidays.

For an informal chat about the role, please contact Jo Rainbird on 01903 706338

Closing date:  18th February 2019                      Interview: 22nd February 2019

The closing date should be treated as a guide. We reserve the right to close the vacancy once we have received sufficient applications, so we would advise you to submit your application as early as possible.

An enhanced DBS will be sought, if you are successful in this role. The safe recruitment of staff at St Barnabas Hospices is the first step to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults in our care. As an employer we expect all staff and volunteers to share our commitment to safeguarding.

Benefits included:

  • Enrolment onto our company pension scheme or the option to continue in the NHS pension scheme
  • Up to 35 days’ (FTE) annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
  • Free parking
  • On-site education support
  • Option to join Healthcare Cash Plan
  • Corporate Rate Gym Membership
