Have you ever thought of working in the wheelchair team but were not sure where to start? Are you keen to develop your wheelchair / specialist seating knowledge?

Our Bognor locality wheelchair team is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Wheelchair Therapist (Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Nurse) to cover maternity leave starting in April for 12 months.

The postholder will join our specialist clinical team of therapists, rehabilitation engineers and administration staff to provide a comprehensive service to people of all ages living with long-term mobility problems.

The role will include undertaking clinic based assessments and visits within the community at a range of locations including people's homes and schools within the Bognor area.

It is acknowledged that, given the duration of the post, this may be a developmental role for the successful candidate. Training and support will be given for all aspects of the role although the postholder will be expected to have experience in wheelchair assessment and provision.

The work is varied and interesting, providing new challenges and experiences that will stretch you and provide a sound base for future career development. The service has expanded its specialist seating service and can offer exciting development opportunities in this area.

The skills required for this interesting and specialist role include practical problem solving for postural and mobility needs, highly developed clinical reasoning, the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and advanced communication skills.

We can offer support through a corporate and local induction programme, clinical supervision and excellent training and development opportunities.

There is an opportunity to visit the service site in advance of the interview so you can gain an overview of this service and the type of interventions carried out to enable our clients gain independent mobility and function.

This post will be based at the Richard Hotham Unit, Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital.

Job share as well as full-time applications will be welcomed as well as the option to discuss flexible working options or a secondment arrangement.

Applicant requirements You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
