Specialist Speech and Language Therapist 

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced therapists to join our friendly and enthusiastic Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service in West Sussex. We currently have opportunities within Pre School Complex Needs and Early Years . The ideal candidate will have experience of working in one or more of the following settings; Child Development Centres, special schools,nurseries and pre-school community clinics. Knowledge of AAC/ Dysphagia and Makaton would be an advantage.  Therapists with an established interest in developing skills in any of these clinical areas will also be considered. We welcome full time or part time applicants.

Our Pre School Complex Needs time is based in Crawley area but requires some travel across the local area. The successful candidate will be based in a Child Development Centre in Crawley and will work closely with other Speech and Language Therapists, a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant and the wider workforce within the centre and wider community.

Our Early Years' time is based in the Horsham area but again may require some travel across the local area. The successful candidate will be based in a community clinic in Horsham Hospital and will work closely with other Speech and Language therapists.

The post holders will be managed by the Central Locality Managers. Children within West Sussex are offered therapy services through an integrated care-pathways model and you will work as part of the Special Schools Teams and within the vision, values and strategic objectives of Sussex Community NHS Trust.

You will:

  • Work in partnership with fellow health professionals, Education staff and pre-school staff to provide support at universal, targeted and specialist levels using a “balanced system” approach.
  • Offer assessment, care-planning, advice and evidence based interventions to pre-school aged children with Complex Needs, a wide range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and Dysphagia.
  • Offer assessment, care-planning, advice and evidence based interventions to pre-school aged children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)
  • Assist in the delivery of training on all aspects of SLCN for CDC Colleagues, nursery staff, parents/carers.
  • Have experience of setting and measuring outcomes to ensure that you are delivering high quality and effective care.
  • Have excellent communication and negotiation skills in order to work with and through others (parents, caregivers and school staff) to achieve positive outcomes for children with Complex Needs and SLCN.
  • Be given excellent supervision and support with CPD opportunities through the appraisal setting process.

 

You must be a car driver and be able to travel. 

Applicants must be registered with HCPC and an enhanced DBS check will be required.
