Lead Quality engineer to help head of Quality with growing workload as this successful engineering firm expands. With experience of overseeing other members of the SQA team, the Lead Quality engineer will be in a hands-on role but help guide some of the existing team (2 or 3).
With a minimum of 5yrs commercial experience in a quality environment, ideally involving casting supplies, the Lead Quality engineer will be responsible for ensuring quality issues are managed and dealt with efficiently and correctly.
These may include:
* Material selection and supply
* Supplier quality
* Inspections
* Prototype overview
* Implement processes
* Concession requests (and ability to liaise with engineering team on altering drawings to match supplies)
* Root cause analysis
* Drawing approval
* Engage with suppliers
* Engage with existing SQA team
* Specification
* Testing
Further, the Lead Quality engineer will manage reviews of the team and oversee their PPAP / APQP work. So some interaction and previous experience of PPAP / APQP would be highly desirable, however, the team is expecting to do most the heavy lifting in this area.
The product being managed has over 500 components and the Lead Quality engineer will oversee quality issues surrounding these. In particular, experience with casting is preferred as knowledge gaps in this area need to be filled!
The Lead Quality Engineer must be a proven and confident communicator, with a background in production. Ideally, from manufacturing (aerospace, oil & gas, automotive or automation for example). In addition, a proven track record in successfully implementing change and ensuring continuous improvement, driving forward the commercial elements of the business
