We are recruiting for some Java Developers to join RCDTS (Revenue & Customs Digital Technology Services), a subsidiary of the HMRC. We work on IT projects that were previously outsourced to the private sector, supporting the HMRC’s mission to become a more technologically advanced tax authority.

These Java Developer vacancies are in the C&IT (Customs & International Trade) team. They are responsible for a number of IT services related to calculating trade statistics, VAT, communicating with international tax authorities and more. With the UK in the process of leaving the EU, these crucial IT systems will be upgraded and new ones will be developed.

You will code, unit test, build and deploy solutions on a variety of projects from Oracle SOA integration and Oracle BPM through to standalone Java web apps and complex back-end component development. You will contribute to design activities on the team, attending design workshops and contributing to the production of design specification as well as playing an active part in process improvement.

Some of our systems are supported on a 24/7 basis so there may be some occasional on-call maintenance duties.

We use the following technologies so we would like you to have experience with the following:

• Java (Enterprise JavaBeans, Spring)

• JPA (Hibernate, EclipseLink)

• WebLogic (10g, 11g, 12c)

• Web Services (SOAP & REST)

• Subversion

This will be based in our Worthing office, right next to Durrington-on-Sea station. Benefits of joining RCDTS include 22 days of holiday (rising to 25 after 1 year); pension with up to 10% employer contribution; train season ticket loan and 4 x salary life assurance.

I work in the HMRC/RCDTS recruitment team and will review your application, and if you are suitable I will be in touch to discuss further.
