Role: Materials Buyer - Construction

Location: Eastbourne

Salary/Rate: £40K - £55k plus Package

Experienced Buyer required! I am working for a Sussex based main contractor who consistently deliver projects up to £5M in a range of sectors from residential, commercial, leisure, fit out sectors. If you are an experienced Construction Buyer this could be a great career opportunity for you.

Purpose: To provide an efficient and effective procurement service to projects and the business requirements.

* Carry out Material Procurement on live projects.
* Build and maintain relationships both internal and external
* Comply with Business (and where necessary project) procurement procedures.
* Monitor flow of material requisitions and ensure authorisation protocol is followed.
* Process orders in accordance with the documented processes
* Process material requisitions in accordance with the documented process.
* Interface with key supply chain providers and conduct performance reviews.
* Monitor expenditure to ensure that up-to-date cost information is available and known to the Business.
* Liaise with key supply chain providers and visit as necessary.
* Negotiate deals and long-term arrangements with local supply chain providers.
* Prepare tender enquiries and pricing schedules.
* Co-ordinate and work with team to develop package specific Scope of Works documents
* Co-ordinate the provision of pricing information to support the compilation of business bids.
* Chair meetings with sub-contractors and or suppliers
* Represent Procurement at meetings (both internal and external to the Business).
* Add value in reducing internal spend.
* Work to drive the Business procurement strategy forward.
* Carry out other duties as required by the Procurement Manager.

Skills / Qualifications:

* Knowledge of Construction Material Procurement
* Knowledge of Construction supply chains and providers
* Knowledge of specialist subcontractors supply chain within Construction
* Knowledge of construction forms of Main Contracting i.e. Traditional and Design and Build.
* Good understanding of construction procurement risks and opportunities in letting packages
* Working knowledge of basic plant, equipment and materials
* Working knowledge of equipment / specialist rates and cost
* Electronic processing of order documentation
