EXAM SUPPORT ASSISTANTS (ESA’S)

Required for 14th May to 14th June.   Hourly rate: £9.79 (inclusive of holiday pay)

We are seeking to appoint a small team of exam support assistants whose role will be to enable our students with exam access arrangements to fully engage with their GCSE examinations.

We have a number of students with EAA (Exam Access arrangements). These students have been identified (following extensive testing) as needing a provision that will enable them to complete an examination on the same basis as any other student. Such provision may mean they have extra time, a reader, a scribe or access to a word processing facility.  Along with our current team of teaching assistants our ESA’s will help meet these needs mainly by scribing or reading to our students during some of the most demanding periods of the examination season i.e English, maths and science exams.

Although this is a temporary role it is a very important one for our students and we expect rewarding for the ESA. In addition, this role is an excellent preparation for anyone considering a career in either teaching or supporting students’ learning.  The time in school will be dependent on the length of each examination but you can expect each working session to typically be 2-3 hours on the following dates:

In order to undertake this role you will need to commit to attending a short training session (up to 2 hours), at a mutually convenient time.

To be effective in this role you will need to be able to:

  • Quickly establish a positive, supportive relationship with our more vulnerable students;
  • Be flexible and able to work calmly when under pressure;
  • Learn and work with our examination systems.

In addition colleagues who undertake such work should also have:

  • a genuine passion for education and desire to make a positive difference;
  • excellent organisation and communication skills;
  • a friendly and professional manner.

If you are passionate about making a positive impact to children’s learning and are interested in applying for this role please download an application form, see below (also available from our website www.wardenpark.co.uk). Please return your completed application form by email to jobs@wardenpark.co.uk.  Our HR Manager, Shirley Batchelor  sbatchelor@wardenpark.co.uk  can be contacted in the first instance if you have any questions Tel 01444 476556.

Warden Park Academy is part of the Sussex Learning Trust and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check and well as other pre-employment checks.
