Community Companion Volunteer
St Barnabas House offers care and support to people in the Worthing, Arun, Adur and Henfield areas.
We are looking for volunteers to join our dedicated team of Community Companions. Currently, we are specifically looking for volunteers who are able to take patients out in their cars, either for social outings or practical support.
Isolation is a big issue for many people coping with life-limiting illnesses and can also be the case for their carers. As a Community Companion volunteer, you will be helping people at a very difficult time in their lives by providing support during a weekly two hour visit.
To have someone who can pop in for a chat or lend a helping hand can make a big difference.
If you have 2-3 hours to spare during the week, like meeting people and would like to volunteer in a role where you have direct contact with patients and their carers in their own homes, then becoming a Community Companion is a special role that may suit you.
For this role we provide two mandatory training days and ongoing support. We ask that volunteers in this role be at least 18 years of age.
The next training dates are Friday 05 July 2019 and Wednesday 10 July 2019 at 09:15 - 15:00.
Before this you will be offered an informal interview to assess your suitability for the role.
If you would like to speak to someone about this role, please call 01903 706315.
