Band 5

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) is the largest community health and care provider in Sussex. Our expert teams deliver a wide range of medical, nursing and therapeutic care to over 9,000 people a day, serving a total population of 1.3 million.

We pride ourselves in providing excellent care at the heart of the community. In July 2018, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) gave us an improved 'Good' rating, with 'Outstanding' features. 96% of our patients said they would recommend our services to their friends and family, and we attribute this to the hard work and dedication of each and every one of our teams.

We offer our staff a multitude of benefits; flexible working, free health and wellbeing checks, three tax efficient workplace nurseries rated 'Good' and 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, and a wide range of exciting learning and development opportunities including external courses, conferences, and a Graduate Studentship Scheme.

The Trust is signed up to the disability confident scheme and we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy.

An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Staff Nurse to work full time Mon-Fri 9-5pm in our Healthy Child Programme (HCP) teams covering the Chichester and Chichester/Arun rural area of West Sussex.

The role will involve working with children, young people and their families to deliver public health messages in response to the early interventions agenda. The 14 HCP teams comprise Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (Health Visiting and School Nursing), Staff Nurses, Community Nursery Nurses, school health assistants and administrators, working closely with the new West Sussex County Council Integrated Prevention and Earliest Help service, and in partnership with schools, children and family centres, GPs, midwives and the voluntary sector. The post-holder will work under the guidance of a qualified specialist school nurse predominantly with school age children.

SCFT offers excellent support to staff including training opportunities, e.g. gaining experience prior to applying for the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse course at one of our partner universities.

We are looking for individuals who have a strong interest in public health, children and young people, early intervention, teaching and safeguarding who are effective communicators and team players.

A high degree of flexibility and the ability to work independently are required; the Chichester teams cover a very wide geographical area and there are considerable driving at work commitments. Applicants must have a valid driving licence and car available for work.

This post may close earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.

Correspondence relating to this vacancy will be conducted electronically. Please ensure that you check your e:mails on a regular basis. References will be requested electronically also; please ensure you provide correct contact details for referees.
