We pride ourselves in providing excellent care at the heart of the community. In July 2018, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) gave us an improved 'Good' rating, with 'Outstanding' features. 96% of our patients said they would recommend our services to their friends and family, and we attribute this to the hard work and dedication of each and every one of our teams.

We offer our staff a multitude of benefits; flexible working, free health and wellbeing checks, three tax efficient workplace nurseries rated 'Good' and 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, and a wide range of exciting learning and development opportunities including external courses, conferences, and a Graduate Studentship Scheme.

The Trust is signed up to the disability confident scheme and we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy.

We celebrate what we do well, know where we can do better, and we are proactive about practice and service improvement.

The service we offer:

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust is the leading provider of Children's Community Nursing Services across West Sussex and is committed to transforming into a comprehensive model of community nursing, which best meets the needs of all four groups of children and young people identified within NHS at Home (Department of Health 2011).

Following the expansion of our service into Brighton and Hove, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Children and Young People's Continence Nurse Specialist to join our well established, national award winning Children and Young People's Continence Team, based in Lancing. If you regard yourself as an exceptional registered nurse with a passion for improving continence outcomes for Children and Young People then we would most certainly like to hear from you.

You will need to have the ability to travel county-wide across Sussex.

Sussex covers a wide geographical area and has a population of approximately 244,000 children and young people between 0-19 years, making up 23% of the total population. The Children and Young People's (CYP) Continence team currently covers the whole of West Sussex with the addition of Brighton and Hove since early 2018, providing nurse clinics and specialist nurse advice and care for children and young people with Tier 2 continence needs. The CYP continence team is aligned to the Children and Young Peoples Community Nursing Services within the Trust.

Professional, operational and strategic leadership is provided through the Head of Children and Young Peoples Community Nursing with additional leadership for quality and standards provided through the Children and Young People's Community Nursing Matrons.

The children can present with Enuresis, faecal incontinence, day wetting, chronic constipation, impaction and toilet training needs in addition to requiring skilled nursing intervention to manage highly complex health and developmental needs throughout childhood and at transition to adult services. The Children's Continence Nurse Specialist (CYPCNS) works closely with social care, education and third sector organisations to implement statutory requirements of the Children's and Families Act 2014 and we are involved closely with partners in developing children and young people care pathways.

Our CCNS offers innovation, partnership and excellence in community care and we are highly committed to active ongoing engagement with children and families to shape and improve services. We aspire to be what children, families and our partners need us to be to enable the very best health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people in West Sussex and Brighton and Hove.
