A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Operative to work for our busy client in the Pulborough area.

Reporting to the Technical manager, the role involves general maintenance of the kiln car fleet, specifically the refractory maintenance. The work involves a high degree of flexibility and fitness due to the nature of the repairs.

Hours of work is 42.5 hours per week across - working hours are 07:30 to 16:30 - Monday to Friday

Pay: £9.10

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Strip and rebuild kiln car refractories to drawing
  • Record materials used, maintain stock records of materials
  • Conduct running repairs to fleet; inc. wheel lubrication
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping
  • Fully comply with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy
  • Active involvement in improving site safety
  • Basic welding experience

Essential Qualities & Experience:

  • High degree of Health, Safety and Environmental awareness
  • Reliability.
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm and the ability to use their own initiative and work as part of a team
  • Physically fit and active
  • Ability to read construction/ Engineering drawings
  • Good computer literacy and numeric skills
  • The ability to understand, accept and achieve targets and deadlines​
  • Organisational skills including efficient planning
  • Self-discipline and multi-tasking, the ability to self-manage and adjust to changing business needs

Desirable Experience:

Experience of working within a Factory / Manufacturing environment
