Job Details

We wish to recruit three part-time Personal Tutors. The successful candidates will work within the college’s Guidance Team providing pastoral support, academic monitoring and progression guidance to a cohort of students.

Background to the post

There is a requirement to increase Worthing College's Personal Tutor team by the creation of 3 new part-time posts. Students at Worthing College are provided with guidance and pastoral support by a team of Personal Tutors who are responsible for a cohort of students belonging to one of the college divisions. Each Tutor is responsible for a mixture of A Level students and students on vocational courses such as BTECs and CamTechs.  Tutors need to be able to spread their hours across at least 3 days in the working week in order to ensure the capacity for rapid response to emerging issues. They meet with students on a 1 to 1 basis regularly throughout the year and deliver occasional group tutorial sessions to classes of students at certain points in the year. In addition they devote a significant portion of their time to those students who are in need of support or who are presenting concerns in terms of their progress and attendance. This team together with the Senior Tutors are central to delivering the college priorities of achievement, retention and progression.
