Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Salary: £20,000 - £25,000 per annum

Location: Haywards Heath, Close to Station

Duration: Permanent

Hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 5:30pm, Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm

Benefits: 20 days holiday increasing by 1 day for each full calendar year worked, up to 25 days

We are excited to be working with our established client in their search for an Accounts Assistant. This is an exciting role for a candidate with previous experience working in Accounts, who is keen and ambitious to build on their existing skillset.

The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for managing the company's portfolio of leases and commercial loan agreements from loading new transactions, allocating payments from bank statements right through to settlement and termination. The successful candidates will also be responsible for the production of management account for key companies in the group. As such, the ideal person will be able to work accurately and prioritise work effectively, be a team player with good Excel skills and a real willingness to learn.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Bank statement processing
  • Loading transactions to Sage
  • Purchase ledger runs across all companies
  • Payroll across all companies (using Sage Payroll)
  • Commercial loan / Lease agreement processing (loading / rescheduling / terminating)
  • Petty cash and daily banking
  • Direct Debit calling across all companies
  • Monthly processing including producing management accounts (Sage 50 Accounts)
  • Account management for regular suppliers (purchase orders, invoices, statements)

The Person:

  • Experience in accounting / finance roles (ideally 2 years in relevant employment)
  • Knowledge of accounting systems, preferably Sage 50
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel user
  • Energy, enthusiasm and a tenacious approach to completing every task
  • Solid organisation and time management skills
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Be able to multitask whilst working to deadlines
  • Be prepared to carry out core but more routine duties
  • Good analytical, problem solving skills and communication skills
  • Curious nature and with the desire and ability to learn quickly
  • Educated to degree level desirable
