We are seeking a Shop Manager to work in our showroom on Old Shoreham Road, Hove.

With your excellent communication skills and relevant retail experience you will make a real difference by helping to raise vital funds for the Martlets Hospice.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-respected local charity, and in this exciting role you will maximise shop sales and profits, and deliver excellent customer service.

Main Duties Will Include:

• Managing all aspects of the retail operation in this location, including opening and closing the showroom, stock management, merchandising, sales, service and security
• Ensuring a high standard of customer service and achieving sales targets whilst keeping costs within agreed budget  
• Implementing and actively supporting promotions and campaigns as directed
• Maintaining high standards of presentation throughout the showroom at all times
• Actively encouraging donations and sign-ups to Retail Gift Aid
• Managing volunteer/staff recruitment as an on-going process.

Key Skills Required:

• GCSE level or equivalent in English and Maths
• Proven retail sales experience in a management or supervisory position
• Experience of leading and motivating a team of staff and/or volunteers
• Able to communicate clearly in person and in writing with the public and staff/volunteers
• Numerate and competent in dealing with and analysing sales figures and EPOS systems
• Experience of cash handling and adherence to financial regulations and policies
• Experience of stock control and visual merchandising with a flair for attractive shop displays
• Willing to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends as agreed
• A good level of fitness to be able to fulfil the physical demands of the job
