Production Engineer for electro-mechanical production. Growing manufacturing engineering firm with new facilities and who providing state-of-the-art products to the medical, science and physics industries is looking for a Production Engineer.
With a minimum 1 yrs, commercial experience in a manufacturing environment the Production Engineer will be joining a passionate team of engineers to provide solutions to successfully develop of complex electro-mechanical products.
The successful applicant will be a graduate engineer (BEng / MEng or similar) with some industrial manufacturing experience, ideally within a production environment. In addition, they will have gained some understanding of continuous improvement.
With strong support from the management team, the engineer will work in a small team in helping bring products from the design engineering / NPD and R&D engineering team into production. Close liaison required and therefore good communications skills.
Typically, duties will include:
* Work with multidisciplinary teams across the business in bringing prototype to production
* With the Production Manager assist in developing new manufacturing techniques, propose new production engineering methods
* Take responsibility for key projects and manage the manufacturing development program
* Improve production line efficiency
* Provide reports of progress and times scales
* Work in collaboration with other mechanical and electrical design staff providing guidance and direction for needs of assigned projects
* Identify and collaborate with vendors providing materials and services
* Maintain a current knowledge base of best practice manufacturing techniques
* Analysis of test specifications
* Solve production problems relating to the build
* Direct manufacturing staff in the most effective method of assembly
* To compile manufacturing work instructions
* Identify Cost Reductions
While the initial role will not require the production engineer to have all this experience, this is typical of where they should be expect to be in a few years.
In addition, to support continuous improvement via an official methodology such as LEAN six Sigma, Kaizen, and Kanban or similar would be a huge bonus to being successful in securing this position. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to implement.
Key requirements
* Min 1yrs commercial experience in a production engineering role in an industrial environment
* A professional Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Qualification, Degree at BEng / MEng level or similar preferred
* Sound engineering skills with mechanical, electronic and control system know how
* AutoCAD / 3D CAD experience
* MS Office (word, excel)
In addition, it would be good to have:
* Working knowledge of Lean Manufacture, Kanban and 5S methodologies with experience of implementation desirable
* A basic understanding of Quality techniques such as FMEA, SPC a bonus
* Health and safety knowledge, COSHH etc.
