The company employs over 100 people with a head office in Guildford. There is still significant potential for growth, and this business has developed strategic partnerships with investment funds to look for acquisition opportunities as asset management partner.

Responsibilities and main duties:
  • Monthly reporting to the board

o Comparison of performance against budgets/forecasts

o Performance analysis and identification of trends incorporating business KPIs
  • Ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards and statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Preparation of annual budgets/reforecasts and accurate cash flow forecasts
  • Ensure strong internal control environment

o Transactions are authorised within delegated limits of authority

o Balance sheet reconciliations performed monthly
  • Review monthly VAT returns and ensure compliance
  • Developing systems, financial policies and procedures for the company and managing systems projects as required
  • Managing audit/tax compliance
  • Management of reporting team
  • Supporting Head of Finance on transactions and treasury matters
  • Undertake ad hoc financial analysis from time to time

The role would suit a qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years' experience working as a financial controller or similar role in industry.

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential Skills:
  • Experience of leading teams and managing performance
  • ACA/ACCA qualified accountant,
  • Excellent technical accounting skills (UK GAAP & IFRS)
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation of workload ensuring deadlines are met
  • Ability to identify weaknesses in existing processes and drive a continuous improvement agenda
  • First rate communication skills both in the written and verbal form and confident in working with staff on all levels of the organisation
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Understanding of UK corporate taxation
  • Experience of using accounting software/ERP system

Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of power industry/markets
  • Knowledge of renewables / biofuels
  • Experience of Microsoft Dynamics & Power applications

The role is based at the company's head offices in Guildford and will not involve a significant amount of travel.

Salary £60,000 - £70,000
