Group Director of Fraud

Manchester or Haywards Heath / Salary: Competitive / Department: Fraud 

We’re on the lookout for a stand-alone subject matter expert to become our Group Director of Fraud.

This is an exciting and high-profile role as you’ll be in control of the overall development and delivery of the Group Fraud strategy, whilst providing assurance to the Board of the company fraud systems and controls.

It’ll be up to you to ensure the company operates and maintains an effective and efficient fraud strategy including third party, employee and supplier fraud. Amongst other responsibilities, you’ll use your deep experience of motor fraud to ensure fraud systems and controls provide ongoing protection to the claims loss ratio and mitigate the risk of the company being used for purposes connected to fraud.

Job Responsibilities: (but not limited to)

-    Develop and maintain a system of outcome-based learning working across prevention, detection and investigation supported by a culture of continuous improvement
-    Create and implement counter fraud Initiatives/ rules in conjunction with the Chief Underwriting Officer
-    Report confirmed fraud to the Police/ Insurance Fraud Enforcement departments
-    Ensure the Company maintains continual insight into market developments in the prevention and management of internal/external fraud
-    Develop fraud scorecard for presentation to Group Boards with clear value measures tracked
-    Robustly manage budget and reforecasting
-    Positively communicate with team members, colleagues and stakeholders
-    Develop fraud scorecard for presentation to Group Boards with clear value measures tracked
-    Provide excellent leadership to all direct reports, matrix reports and to the wider employee community as appropriate
 
Skills/ experience/ knowledge

-    Minimum of five years’ experience in a senior motor insurance fraud role
-    Deep experience/ understanding of all elements of motor insurance fraud and internal fraud
-    Defining strategic and operational strategy
-    Designing, deploying, maintaining and developing fraud systems and controls
-    Law enforcement practices and procedures
-    Investigating and acting on whistleblowing disclosures
-    Operating at a Senior Management level reporting to a Board of Directors.
-    Strategic decision making
-    An understanding of lean/ continuous improvement tools, thinking and methodologies
-    People management and leadership and ability to motivate employees in a highly pressurised environment
-    Processes, tools and techniques used to identify, investigate and manage fraud and a strong understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements and obligations
-    Motor insurance products, insurance distribution channels, claims handling, technology, data sources and databases, and the wider motor insurance industry
-    An excellent understanding of relevant fraud legislation
