Head of Employee Health & Wellbeing

Job Description:

Can you imagine delivering Health & Wellbeing for a Health & Wellbeing company? It’s not easy, but it’s exciting and rewarding. This is a new role and we’ve got big aspirations for this agenda that we hope you will want to be a part of. Curious? Read on.  

Job Purpose

This is an all-encompassing role that leads on Health & Wellbeing aspects across the entire employee lifecycle for our UK Market Unit employees. We will ask you to own, design, deliver and embed our Bupa Health & Wellbeing strategy. And of course, lead on the resulting employee propositions. We will count on you for your expertise and to be our leading advocate on this subject for our people. There will be plenty of governance and meetings as you would expect, many of which you will chair and/or manage. And we always want to make conscious and quality data driven decisions and will look to you help us with that. It will be a small team, you and one direct report, reporting to the Reward Director. But remember this is a Health & Wellbeing company and we have a host of resources to make the most of.  

Before you think there can’t be much stretch, we should tell you that this will be a transformational role in 2019/2020 as we look to reach a new level of people experience with this agenda.

Accountabilities & Activities 

We could give you the usual laundry list of Job Description tasks, but actually we would like you to focus on: 

  • Taking stock of where we are now and shaping the strategy, working on a promotional and communications plan.
  • Owning Bupa’s Health & Wellbeing propositions by employee segment – this will include the overall architecture and performance and benefits including our Health Trust
  • Shaping and driving the delivery of the Health & Wellbeing communication and engagement strategy with our Internal Communications team.
  • Establishing effective mechanisms to incorporate new products and services into the proposition appropriately
  • Providing thought leadership on health and wellbeing – just because we are a health and wellbeing company, doesn’t mean we have all the answers.
  • Being ready to visit our Customers with our business unit teams to talk about how we walk the talk at Bupa as part of our commercial strategy.
  • Offering great leadership, inside and outside of the Reward team. You are likely to have to lead people who don’t necessarily report to you.
  • Embedding health and wellbeing into our employee lifecycle and making sure the ‘so what’ is always considered.

Experience and skills 

It would be great if you have:

  • Strong influencing skills – you will have lots of interested stakeholders who love this topic.
  • Credible experience in Health & Wellbeing with either a clinical or employee benefits background.
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement and performance improvement in Health & Wellbeing or similar.
  • Strong capabilities in managing internal and external stakeholders at a senior level.
  • Knowledge of how to develop and give oversight to a programme plan.
  • Exceptional customer-centricity and ability to make your work stand out from the crowd.
  • Analytical ability to source and interpret data to drive performance and change.
