An exceptional engineering outfit based in the heart of West Sussex is seeking to hire an experience Safety Engineer to add to their team on a permanent basis. The role of the safety engineer ensures that all safety processes are applied effectively to each project, ensuring all safety tasks on projects are completed and that safety is central to all the teams’ activities.

Responsibilities include:

* Planning safety activities for a project in compliance with all safety processes

* Performing and facilitating safety analysis of concept designs in a multi-discipline group

* Performing, facilitating and reviewing detailed design hazard analyses to identify and record hazards, causes, risk levels and risk reduction methods

* Preparation of a safety case that argues whether the risk from a product is acceptably low

* Monitoring changes in safety standards and using best practice to improve the company’s safety engineering processes

Candidates must have the following skills/experience:

* Knowledge of safety policies and principles, safety risk management, hazard identification techniques including FMEA and FTA

* Experience of applying safety methods in a safety critical industry

* Knowledge of current safety standards

* Excellent communication skills, in particular by documentation and report writing
