Bonfire Recruitment are working exclusively and retained with a well-established and growing food production business in West Sussex, to recruit a Technical Manager.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the role will require the successful candidate take responsibility for the overall quality achievement and performance improvement across the business with regards to food safety. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who, while they are ambitious and passionate in their drive to succeed, is an excellent communicator who can work with all levels within the business and externally.

Job Description

* Responsible for the quality achievement and performance improvement across the business regarding food safety

* Lead the site HACCP Team and ensure HACCP documentation is current and reviewed annually

* Manage the product specifications and customer requirements

* Manage Ingredients specifications, compound ingredient declarations and allergenidentification / controls

* Ensure compliance with UK Food Safety standards and keep abreast with changes in food legislation & food crisis monitoring

* Adhere to responsibilities defined in the Crisis Manual

* Monitor suppliers, ensuring compliance and conducting annual reviews

* Investigate and respond to customer complaints, manage corrective and preventative actions, traceability and product recall in the specified timescales

* Follow all quality NC’s and be responsible for tracking the closure, providing relevant reports to the Management

* Monitor compliance to the correct hygiene standards through interaction with staff, routine monitoring of micro results and conducting Hygiene and GMP audits

* Develop and establish the company’s quality procedures, standards and specifications, reviewing the customer requirements ensuring that they are met

* Ensure the setup and maintenance of quality controls, documentation and procedures monitoring performance

* Management of all Quality Systems against current accreditation and customer audits

* Define processes and procedures - working with peers bring together staff of different disciplines to adhere to quality procedures

* Authorise and validate factory trials and NPD, including compliant labelling, nutritional analysis and specifications for new products

* Overall responsibility for the positive release of products, control of product release and non-conformity system

* Supervise the programme of internal auditing ensuring its effectiveness

* Pinpoint relevant quality-related training needs across the site and act as a role model for Food Safety, Quality and Hygiene

Candidate Requirements

* Relevant experience in a similar role is a must

* Experience working to SALSA and BRC Standards

* Team Player

* Able to motivate, develop and manage performance of a small team

* Excellent communicator

* Able to plan and prioritize own workload & others

* Excellent IT skills

* Previous Involvement with driving continuous improvement initiatives & activities
