Contracts Manager – Groundworks & Civil Engineering

£65,000 – £75,000 + Package

Location: Eastbourne

Our client is a groundworks & civil engineering contractor who specialise in working with high profile clients such as Bam, Berkeley Homes, McLaren, Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon. They boast a great reputation for delivering projects on time and to the very highest of standards. They held a stable output through the recession, and are now focusing on controlled growth, looking to increase business from 1% to 3% of the UKs projects over the next 10 years. The company boasts an impressive portfolio of projects throughout the south east of England and offers a friendly yet professional working environment. They cover numerous sectors of industry including aviation, commercial, residential, healthcare, rail projects ranging from £250k up to £6m.

About the Role:

My client have an exciting new position for a well-established Contracts Manager to work on multiple groundworks & civil engineering packages up to £5m. This is a long term appointment, with many more projects in the pipeline, it’s a great opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager to gain long term project experience, and progress up the ladder. The ideal candidate will be expected to;

·Financial forecasting

·Liaison with procurement team

·Management of client account to include monthly application and invoice process

·Provide technical input in relation to your skills into project requirements, including liaison with both internal and external design teams

·Efficient management of labour resource including site supervisory, direct and subcontract labour

·Programme management including generation of own project programmes and weekly progress reports

·Generation and issue of all required project documentation including items such as technical submittals, RFI’s and RAMS

·Responsibility for site health and safety procedures and documentation including regular liaison with engineering health and safety manager to ensure best practices are maintained at all times

·Regular liaison with engineering support teams (financial, marketing, accounts, commercial support/O&M) to ensure all aspects of project are up to date and recorded correctly

·Monitor and control of supplier and subcontract supply chain to ensure best value and quality are achieved

·Input into O&M documentation from outset of project through to practical completion, including liaison with office O&M team to ensure documents are issued as per requirements in a timely and presentable manner

·Staff welfare, workload and behaviour are effectively managed

·Liaison with engineering estimating, design and business development staff as necessary to provide support for new opportunities and existing projects

About the benefits / rewards:

The specific salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry and experience on related roles and projects. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary around £65,000 – £75,000, which will also include various benefits relating to bonuses, travel and healthcare.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be a well-established Contracts Manager who has a stable background of working with Main Contractors. The candidate should have experience of working on similar projects. Career stability will be key in the selection process as the clients are keen to land a colleague with only a small handful of previous employers. The successful candidate will have a drive and motivation to progress within a well-established business with an eye for managing major projects.

·Qualification in relevant subject to role being carried out – ONC/equivalent or higher

·CSCS card holder or equivalent

·IOSH or SMSTS CITB site management safety training scheme course

·Good computer literacy. Microsoft Office, excel, word, PowerPoint
