We are looking to recruit a Senior Powertrain Design Engineer to join our Automotive client in West Sussex. You will be responsible for designing a wide range of complex engine components using the latest engineering software tools.

Role:

·Mechanical design of engine components through concept, definitive and detail design phases

·Work on a variety of market sectors including utility, passenger car, commercial vehicles, off-highway, industrial and defence

·Working on the latest engine products and expanding in to propulsion systems and energy storage for hybrids and battery electric vehicles

·Carry out detailed mechanical design work including 3D modelling, basic stress calculations, FMEA’s, 2D layouts, 2D detailing, Tolerance stacks as required

·Work closely with manufacturing and process engineers to ensure products are designed for manufacture & assembly

Background preferred:

·Industry experience designing engine components

·3D CAD skills with one or more of the major CAD systems (e,g CREO, NX & CATIA)

·Ability to understand and produce technical drawings to high standard with GD&T competency

·Confident proactive character, ability to take the lead in challenging situations

·Good communication skills, dealing with other employees, external clients & suppliers in English
