Job Duties

Purpose of the role…

To assist in the delivery of a portfolio of internally or externally generated change impacting the LGAS and LGR finance function by supporting the project team in the delivery and implementation of the technical solution.  Working effectively with the appropriate business divisions and internal customers to help ensure that all systems and process changes are effectively planned, designed and delivered through into production in an efficient cost effective and timely manner, whilst maintain technical integrity.  Through effective networks, communication management and technical ability and experience, help ensure any solution delivery meets the desired business requirements of the business and the finance function. This includes a review of the finance and actuarial systems and processes impacted by the change, identifying the impacts, proposing solutions through innovative and creative methods.

Principle Accountabilities…

Delivery Management: Support the management of change activity impacting LGAS and LGR Finance, whether stand-alone or part of a broader initiative, ensuring the solution meets the desired business requirements and is delivered within the agreed timescales, budget and to an appropriate high quality.  Ensure scope of systems project delivery is well defined and understood by all stakeholders.

  • Technical Expertise: Own and resolve technical challenges or issues that arise during a project.  Provide actuarial direction and support to Prophet Developers and other members of the team as required.  Act as a proxy Subject Matter Expert (SME), provide sound actuarial expertise on the delivery of change projects and production activities.
  • Innovative Solutions: Help ensure efficient, effective and innovative solutions, definition and design integrity to achieve the required business problem or opportunity.
  • Process Management: Support the management of the system and process changes impacting all the LGAS and LGR Finance teams through delivery of good technical knowledge and solution design and delivery on behalf of the LGAS and LGR Finance teams. Manage and coordinate input from other technical experts within LGAS and LGR Finance and other relevant business areas.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage effective networks and demonstrate excellent communication across LGAS and LGR Finance and other L&G business areas (as required) to ensure the LGAS and LGR Finance reporting systems and processes remain fit for purpose and continue to meet the needs of the LGAS and LGR business division.
  • Change Management:  Support project manager to deliver the project by providing assistance and input into planning and resourcing.  Provide guidance on technical issues to enable the project manager to manage corrective actions and enable key decision making.
  • Internal Relationship Management: Develop and manage the relationship across the Group to ensure the requirements of LGAS and LGR Finance are fully delivered within time, budget and to an appropriate high quality, ensuring the deployment of necessary business and technical knowledge to support the delivery.
  • People Management: To manage the team in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, so that the team’s business objectives are achieved consistently.

Skills Required

Technical Knowledge – The jobholder will have good knowledge of the following:

Qualifications

The jobholder will be a qualified Actuary with significant post qualification experience within a Life Company or Consultancy.

Specific Experience - The jobholder will have:

  • Reporting metrics: Peak 1, IFRS, EEV, ICA, and Economic Capital.
  • Protection, Savings and Annuity Products.
  • UK Finance sector.
  • Protection, Savings and Annuity Finance systems and processes.
  • Change management.
  • Prophet or other actuarial modelling software
  • Good experience of leading change implementation and project management in the finance or actuarial reporting environment.
  • The ability to communicate with very senior management complex actuarial issues and requirements to non-actuarial stakeholders.
  • Initiative and take ownership.
  • A practical and hands on approach.
