Job Details

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices:

St Barnabas House provides palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including In-patient Care, Day Hospice and Community Care. 

Chestnut Tree House is the children's hospice reaching across Sussex and South East Hampshire, providing care and support for children, young people and their families with life-shortening conditions.

We are recruiting for a Fundraising Volunteer Officer to support the Fundraising Teams of Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House by developing teams of volunteers for fundraising events both large and small. Working closely with the Voluntary Services team this position needs a confident friendly individual with excellent communication skills who will enjoy recruiting, training and supporting the diverse range of volunteers who kindly give their time to St Barnabas Hospices.   

The job involves:

  • Promoting volunteering internally and externally, building networks and increasing awareness.
  • Maintaining accurate, secure and up to date records on the volunteers and accurate regular reports.
  • Ensure regular contact with volunteers and that volunteers are briefed and supported by fundraising teams in line with our policies and current legislation.
  • Develop volunteer fundraising roles and provide appropriate training and safeguarding.  
  • Work closely with Voluntary Services to plan communications to volunteers and develop good practice guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Deal with any issues and support volunteers and promote their status and well-being within the hospices.
  • Promote the work of hospice volunteers through public speaking and publications including newsletters and bulletins.

Educated to A-level or equivalent, the successful applicant will have excellent communication skills both spoken and written: 1 - 2 years’ experience working with volunteer’s desirable. 

  • This role is based at St Barnabas House but regular visits to other hospice locations and events is necessary therefore access to your own transport is required.
