This is an exciting opportunity to join the Community Warden Team.

Here in Crawley, we see the safety and well-being of our residents, workers and visitors as paramount. Therefore, we supplement the Police service and Police Community Support Officers with our own front line service of Community Wardens who are accredited to Sussex Police.  You will be out on the streets, reducing anti-social behavior and the fear of crime.

Community Warden presence helps to deter antisocial behavior and make people feel safer on our streets.  If you enjoy communicating with people and like the idea of making a positive difference in your area, this could be the job for you.

You'll also need to have the confidence to lead, mediate and negotiate, be assertive and be part of a team which has earned the RSPCA Gold Footprint Award for its outstanding work in dealing with stray dogs.

Patrolling public areas, you’ll encourage people to talk to each other, and respond to incidents of antisocial behaviour and community concerns, report crime and intelligence to the police. Issue warnings and fixed penalty notices and take part in community events. You will be required to deal with the demanding and emotional role of providing a stray dog service.

Full training and support will be given. Good listening, communication and innovative problem solving skills, tact and ability to handle conflict and aggression in challenging circumstances, empathy to support people and ability to use your initiative. Able to work in partnership with other agencies and a reasonable level of physical fitness and a current driving licence are all essential.

You will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota basis as a regular part of this post. This post will be subject to satisfactory clearance of both Disclosure and Barring checks.

Applicants will need to be able to deal with the physical requirements of the role and must hold a current, valid and clean driving licence which would allow you to drive in the U.K.

Employee benefits:
In return, we offer a generous employee benefits package, with a range of discounts, benefits and wellbeing incentives to suit everyone.
