£50k - £70k - plus package (dependant on experience)

One of the Main Contractors that operate through London and the Home Counties, covering Residential, Education, Healthcare, Leisure, and Commercial projects, are currently recruiting for a Design Manager to assist on a brand new project based in Crawley.

It's a £16m New Build Residential project, which has just kicked off and in good shape, where you would be liaising with consultants, designers and sub-contract design elements. You would be the lead Design Manager on site and ideally have skills in other areas such as education leisure and commercial projects, so you can assist the business in other areas.

• Analysing the project requirement, then in conjunction with the operational delivery team appointing and managing the design teams across all disciplines of the contract.
• Managing and controlling the design delivery team and Release Schedule to align with the contract and procurement programmes in conjunction with the commercial and operation delivery teams.
• Utilising your construction knowledge and experience to develop innovative and cost effective design solutions in conjunction with the design and operational teams, applying value engineering principles to ensure best value is achieved.
• Ensuring the design team produce the right quality, compliant and timely proposals for their respective disciplines against the design criteria set in the contract and Employer's
• Requirements and to satisfy Planning Conditions and Building Regulations.
• Developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with the Client and their design team to build confidence and trust in the brand.
• Working closely with the operational and commercial delivery team throughout to maximise project efficiency.
• Training and managing junior staff to promote career development within the company.

The Candidate: A strong candidate will ideally have a construction design background and:
• Proven experience working for a contractor or surveying practice in a similar role.
• A degree or HND in construction management, design or surveying.
• Sound technical construction and building services knowledge developed through education and experience.
• An ability to work closely with members of the operational and commercial teams and a strong personality to ensure that right decisions are made for efficient project delivery.
• Excellent IT skills including CAD, Project Commander or similar, Excel and Word.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Effective leadership and management skills.
