East Sussex – Circa £35k plus commission – B2B Landscape Supplies

This mostly inside sales team needs your help, support, guidance, leadership, mentoring, sense of purpose, direction, energy, drive - and your sense of humour. Probably. You’re bright as a button.

OUR CLIENT COMPANY

Our client is based in East Sussex and sells and delivers landscaping supplies to the construction, landscaping and FM industries all over the UK. They have just been granted the Royal Warrant (for supplying products for 5 years supported with excellent service). They don’t sell to the domestic market. Long established, their customers like them because they have a wide range of stock, that’s always available, and delivered when the customer needs them, not when the company wants to supply them.

THE JOB

This new role is created to drive the daily sales activity of the company.

You’ll lead the team with daily sense of purpose, helping the team to identify opportunities, especially to cross-sell and increase the range. There are KPI’s of course, but only those that help drive effective activity. You’ll own them and use them to help each team member improve their performance. One size doesn’t fit all.

You’ll also train, mentor, support, coach and develop the team. Having a stable and productive team who understand what they’re about is good for sales – and good for customers too.

You will be encouraged to look for new clients, but mostly the capacity for sales growth comes from organisations the company already knows, or has known, keeping engagement and interest high is your priority.

You will be measured on your team’s overall sales performance and progress.

THE CANDIDATE

This role will require an experienced B2B sales manager, including leading an inside sales team. The existing team is bright. You’ll need to capture their interest and know how to direct their enthusiasm.

Your main attributes are about motivating others and improving their skills to drive individuals to make the team result better.

You are also:

* Impatient for success

* Enjoying helping others to improve their performance – and giving them the credit

* Structured – but definitely no micromanager

* You know when, how and why to apply training, coaching, support and personal development

* Experienced running regular and constructive sales meetings

* Used to working to deadlines

* Familiar organising campaigns and themed programmes, especially with the marketing department

In summary, you love being a sales manager, and others know it.

LOCATION & HOURS

Our client’s operations are run from their base in the East Sussex countryside not too far from Bodiam Castle. Public transport’s not great. It’s formally a 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Our client offers a basic salary in the region of £32k - £35k depending on skills and experience, along with a commission/bonus package that’s open-ended based on the team performance.

INTERVIEW PROCESS AND STARTING DATE:

The target start date is as soon as practically possible depending on notice periods. Before will be a screening interview with Martin Ellis at Recruitment South East. Thereafter will be two interviews at our client’s offices.
