Chestnut Tree House is the children's hospice for East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire, providing specialist palliative care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and dynamic individual to lead the community team at Chestnut Tree House.  Based at Chestnut Tree House, with responsibility for the community geographical caseload across South East Hants, East & West Sussex.

Chestnut Tree House community team offer an outstanding service for children and young people who have a life shortening condition, providing respite, palliative and end of life care. This role provides an excellent opportunity to make a difference to children and young adults within the community setting.

You’ll be able to develop your managerial and clinical skills further, whilst working in a challenging environment, which is committed to the highest standards in nursing care. We are constantly striving to improve the service we provide, and being innovative with the resources available to us.

You’ll already be a great team leader able to demonstrate leadership and strong managerial skills. You should have current nursing practice, preferably with community experience, working with children and young adults. In addition we are looking for competency in a wide range of clinical skills to include long term ventilation, palliative and end of life care.   

This role involves:

  • Operational management of  the community Nursing team
  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of care by actively participating in standard setting, clinical audit and risk assessments
  • Ensuring that clinical standards and competency within the community team are maintained
  • Providing clinical support to other professionals while maintaining your own specialist clinical skills
  • Developing, supporting and participating in clinical care around specific needs of the children

Due to the remote location and geographical area, access to your own transport is essential.
